» 1970
ATCO Homes Division commenced mobile home production in ATCO Industrial Park.

Paraweld Industries Pty Ltd., an Australian metal fabricator headquartered in Adelaide, Australia, joined the ATCO group.

» 1971
Montreal manufacturing consolidated into one location, a 120,000 sq. ft. plant with adjoining office facilities in Ville la Salle.

» 1972
Cedarglen Homes (residential housing construction) expanded and commenced operations in Edmonton.

Metfab Industries commenced operations; their main product was the patented Fold-a-way metal storage building.

» 1973
The company participated in its first oil discovery through ATCO Gas & Oil Ltd.

» 1974
Completion of the first construction camps supplied to the TransAlaska (Alyeska) Pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez signaled a period of fast paced growth.

The first year of operation began for ATCO's Australian mobile homes division, called ATCO Country Homes.

» 1975
ATCO provided emergency housing in Darwin, Northern Australia after the destruction caused by Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Day, 1974.

Construction housing for the Alyeska Pipeline and for oil sands development in northern Alberta pushed revenues upwards by 69% and profits by 175%.

» 1976
Manufacturing facilities were increased in every region. Revenue jumped to over $20,000,000. ATCO Gas & Oil Ltd. experienced initial success and ATCO Development Corporation was formed to undertake real estate development projects.

» 1977
A Saudi Arabian construction division was created to provide utilities, roads and related amenities for the growing number of housing projects undertaken in the Kingdom.

New manufacturing factories were built in Waco, Texas and Penticton, B.C.Neonex Shelter Ltd. was acquired adding 800 units to the industrial housing fleet.

» 1978
ATCO purchased Thomson Industries Limited, thus becoming one of the largest land-based oilfield drilling contractors in North America.

Construction began on an 18 storey office tower at 800 - 6th Avenue S.W. in Calgary, which would be held as part of ATCO's real estate portfolio. Other development projects included the completion of construction of a 60,000 sq. ft. convention centre in Red Deer and the Vista Industrial Centre warehouse complex in Calgary.

» 1979
The drilling and well servicing divisions were expanded with completion of a $70,000,000 capital expenditure program, which included the addition of 13 new drilling rigs for a total of 69.

ATCO formed The Alberta Land Development Company with partners to provide land for ATCO's real estate operations.
