- ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric established ATCO EnergySense in 2001 to provide Albertans with energy efficiency advice and services for their homes and businesses.
- ATCO Frontec provided Canadian peacekeeping logistics support in Bosnia and ATCO Pipelines completed the 116 km Muskeg River pipeline project near Fort McMurray.
- In 2002, ATCO Structures provided temporary accommodations for more than 2,000 security personnel protecting world leaders at the G8 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta.
- ATCO Group committed $1 million over a 10-year period to build the ATCO Tyrrell Learning Centre at the Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta.
- In 2003, ATCO Power brought its emission-free, 32 MW Oldman River hydroelectric generating facility on-line. It was ATCO Power’s first-ever hydroelectric project and its first electricity generating facility in southern Alberta.
- ATCO Group and Direct Energy Marketing Limited (DEML) announced the transfer of the retail energy supply businesses of ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric to DEML.
- Brighton Beach Power LP, a limited partnership formed by ATCO Power Ltd. and Ontario Power Generation, commissioned its 580 MW combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plant located in Windsor, Ontario in 2004.
- In 2004, ATCO began its support of athletes, performers and artists participating in the Arctic Winter Games.
- ATCO Electric was the first Canadian company to take home the international Edison Award for its Alberta Muskeg River Transmission Line project and Teaching Power education program.
- ATCO began its unique and highly successful EPIC (Employees Participating in Communities) fundraising initiative in 2006, benefiting more than 500 charitable organizations.
- In 2007, ATCO marked its 60th anniversary – a celebration of the people of ATCO and their commitment to excellence.
- ATCO Frontec was awarded its first-ever contract with the United Nations in 2007 to provide support service in Kosovo and partnered with Fort McKay First Nation to construct its first open camp, Creeburn Lake Lodge, in northern Alberta.
- ATCO Power commissioned its 45 MW natural gas-fired plant in Valleyview, Alberta in 2001 and added a second gas turbine and generator package at the facility in 2008, doubling its capacity.

- In 2009, ATCO announced the amalgamation of ATCO Structures, ATCO Frontec and ATCO Noise into ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd. The ATCO Group of Companies realigned into three business segments: Utilities, Energy and Structures & Logistics.
- ATCO Electric and ATCO Gas entered into a period of record capital growth. ATCO Electric was authorized to prepare a facilities application to build and operate a new high-voltage transmission line along an eastern corridor in Alberta and ATCO Gas commenced the Meter Relocation and Replacement Project.
- ATCO I-Tek entered into a strategic partnership with Wipro in 2009, accessing an international service delivery centre, which expanded the company’s service delivery and flexibility for clients.
- ATCO Pipelines began its Southern Extension project, replacing 169 km of pipeline originally built in the mid-1940s, extending from Red Deer to Ryley, Alberta.
- The company published its first Sustainability Report in 2009, providing information and data on the performance, initiatives and impacts regarding sustainability for the ATCO Group of Companies.
- The Celebrating Excellence campaign engaged young Albertans who are demonstrating a commitment to community and leadership. The program resulted in 249 young leaders from across Alberta receiving a trip to Vancouver to experience events at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
- ATCO Midstream completed its expansion of the Kisbey Gas Plant in southeastern Saskatchewan in 2010.
- Alberta’s first-ever travelling mobile classroom was launched by ATCO EnergySense in 2010. The EnergySense Mobile is designed to provide Grade 4 students hands-on learning opportunities on energy and conservation.
- The Karratha power generating station in Western Australia was opened by ATCO Power in 2010. The 86 MW facility is the most efficient gas-fired generating station in the region.
