Workers in full safety garb

Our Approach

Safety is the first consideration in everything we do, and it's the responsibility of everyone on the work site - whether it's a pipeline, a lodge, a power plant, or the office. Our goal is an injury free workplace.

A strong safety culture can support innovation and drive positive change by continuously adapting and improving how we think and act, both on and off the job.

Each of our divisions maintains a management system. These systems outline the health and safety procedures, responsibilities and requirements necessary to mitigate operational risk. To improve our overall performance, these divisions regularly share learnings across the enterprise.

Our focus includes the customers who use our products and services, as well as the public who live and work near our operations. We maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for each of our lines of business. We also engage our business partners, customers, neighbours, communities in emergency preparedness planning.

Our Commitment

We commit to:
  • Regularly measuring, monitoring and assessing key performance indicators;
  • Providing the necessary training to our people to help keep them safe on the job;
  • Regularly testing of corporate emergency response plans; and
  • Actively engaging with the communities we serve, municipalities, governments, first responders, and our industry peers to promote the importance of energy safety.
