Group of people with a chequeLast week, business and community leaders gathered in Ottawa for the sixth annual Arctic Inspiration Awards ceremony to recognize the vision and commitment of the women and men working to improve the lives of people living in Canada’s Northern communities.

More than $2.4 million was awarded to eight teams in three prize categories for their innovative plans to address challenges in Northern education, health, and culture. Projects receiving funding this year focused on blending traditional and modern treatment options to fit with Indigenous culture, revitalizing peacemaking circles to strengthen the connection between children and communities, and reinforcing traditional recreation and training programs that forge bonds between youth and elders.

More information on each of these important initiatives can be found by visiting the Arctic Inspiration Prize.

Congratulations to each of the 2017 laureates and good luck in your work ahead.

We believe the North has an important role to play in Canada’s future and we are proud to partner with the Arctic Inspiration Prize to help fund these important initiatives. Learn more about our involvement.
