Our Diversity: Celebrating, Reflecting, and Learning Together

Doreen Bergum

The diversity of our people is our strength, and ATCO is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone that makes up the fabric of our community.

ATCO provides opportunities for the team to regularly reflect and learn to deepen their awareness and understanding not only in June, but throughout the year. It?s through these opportunities to share perspectives and experiences that we create a culture that embraces our individual differences and strengths, bringing out the best in us all.

?Across ATCO we have several grassroots committees that celebrate and support diversity. Our enterprise-wide council listens, learns, and amplifies grassroots ideas and initiatives across our businesses, to further advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. I have a great sense of pride seeing our people bringing their unique selves, and their unique skills, to work each and every day.?

- Nancy Southern, Chair & CEO of ATCO

In June, events at ATCO focus especially on celebrating, reflecting, and learning. They include Elder Sharing Circles, Mtis storytelling, Indigenous pop-up art markets, cultural hikes, ribbon skirt presentation, Mtis Jigging tutorial, powwow demonstration, hide scraping demonstration, and the raising of National Indigenous History Month flags.

Anthony Johnson, a Two-Spirit, 2SLGBTQIA+, and Indigenous advocate will share his global stories and perspective on the significance of authenticity, self-discovery, and creating a sense of purpose.

ATCO has a long-standing history of community involvement, and members of the ATCO team volunteered their time to sell 50/50 tickets benefitting the Stoney Nakoda food bank at the Cavalry FC Indigenous Peoples Celebration Match. Later this summer, members of Team ATCO will be participating in Pride events in Edmonton and Calgary in August and September.
