Effective community and Indigenous relations requires a long-term perspective. Relationships that stand the test of time are built on respect, trust and genuine openness, and go beyond simple engagement. These fundamental characteristics have long defined our approach.
We focus on creating partnerships that contribute to sustainable economic and social development and are continually exploring new models of collaboration with our Indigenous and community partners. We embrace four strategic pillars:
- Meaninful Engagement
In Mexico, we actively work in 14 communities, with whom we link in an open, transparent and honest way to create relationships that contribute to their long-term development. Our approach is based on respect, trust and understanding of indigenous interests, we promote social investment, through a participatory community development strategy.
ATCO EPIC: EMPLOYEES PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITIES
Our ATCO EPIC program is an initiative that involves employee-led committees that plan, implement and manage fundraising campaigns within the company, while ATCO matches each peso / dollar for a social cause.
The program combines fundraising events, auctions, friendly team competitions and employee engagements that support charitable organizations with volunteer hours.
In total, the program supports more than 800 charitable and non-profit organizations around the world. In 2022, our people raised $ CAD 3.6 million, which raised their total contributions since 2006 to $ 54 million Canadian dollars!
