A number of out-of-control wildfires are currently burning in northern Alberta. As a result of the fires power lines servicing these communities have been damaged, and this critical infrastructure continues to be under threat. 

ATCO is continuing to monitor the situation closely, and our employees and contractors are working diligently and safely to replace damaged infrastructure and ensure that our customers continue to have access to the reliable electricity service they rely on.  In the event that our power lines are disrupted due to ongoing fire activity in the area, we have secured back-up generation that we can draw upon if needed.

We are grateful for the incredible partnerships with Ag and Forestry, the Town of High Level, Mackenzie County, the County of Northern Lights, Indigenous communities, including the Dene Tha’ First Nation and Paddle Prairie Metis,  and emergency response teams on site to coordinate our efforts within the region. Latest Update:
On Monday, June 3, the mandatory evacuation order was lifted for High Level, some areas of Mackenzie County and several Dene Tha’ First Nation communities. ATCO employees will be available in High Level to help welcome residents back into the community. Although the mandatory evacuation order has been lifted, an 8-hour evacuation alert has been put in place for High Level.
