• No gas during wild weather?

During windy and rainy weather, and in the wake of extreme weather events, it might appear that you’re out of gas. If you smell gas – call us straight away on 13 13 52 – but if you can’t, here are a few things to check first.

    • No hot water? Check your gas hot water system is still alight.  Wind and rain can sometimes extinguish the pilot light on these heaters, meaning no hot water. If it’s out, and it’s safe to do so, follow the instructions on your system to relight it.
    • Gas cooktop not working? Check the electronic ignition (the spark) is also working. If your power is out it might not.
    • Gas heater not working? Check the electronic ignition (the spark) is also working. If your power is out it might not.
